Evan Evans Tours · Victoria, London

The inner circle with Windsor

Evan Evans takes you inside the stone circle outside opening hours and pairs it with Windsor, the town and, if you pay for it, the castle. It's the inner circle pick for royal history fans, and the only inner circle tour here listed as wheelchair accessible.

Stonehenge Inner Circle & Windsor

About this experience

This is the same English Heritage Stone Circle Experience as on the Lacock and Bath day: an hour inside the ring, in the early morning or the evening, while the site is closed to day visitors. The difference is the second half of the day. Instead of Lacock and Bath you get Windsor, with about 3 hours in the town, and Windsor Castle entry if you book the inclusive option.

Evan Evans runs an early version and a late one. Its own tour page lists early departures at 5:30 AM (Stonehenge first, back around 4:15 PM) and late ones at 9:15 or 11:15 AM (Windsor first, the stones in the evening). Everyone gets a personal audio headset, the coach has wifi and USB chargers, and booking confirms instantly. The itinerary gives 1 hour 30 minutes at Stonehenge, which includes the shuttle to the stones.

Two caveats. Windsor Castle is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and can close at short notice, according to Visit Windsor, so check the weekday before you pay for the castle. And the coach is shared, up to 51 travellers: one guest in September 2026 found two groups and single bookers combined into one slot inside the circle. At $255 it's the most expensive tour on this site.

  • English Heritage access inside the stone circle
  • About 3 hours in Windsor, castle entry optional
  • Personal audio headset for the guide's commentary
  • Coach with wifi and USB chargers
  • Instant confirmation; wheelchair accessible with 7 days' notice

What guests say

★★★★★

Was our second trip to Stonehenge. First only outside stones. This inner circle was above and beyond that by so much. Definitely worth extra cost.

Get the inner circle tour! It was amazing and we learned so much! We started the day at Windsor Castle, the audio tour was free and really enlightening. We ended at Stonehenge. [...] We were given plenty of time to fully experience each location. We did not feel rushed.

100% worth it all. We didn't pay to go inside Windsor castle which was fine we shopped and ate in the town still tons to do.

This was the highlight of our trip and beautifully arranged. It may seem like 515 is early but to be able to stand in the stones by ourselves was amazing.

Tips before you book

  • Book castle entry only for a Thursday to Monday: Windsor Castle closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
  • St George's Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays, says Evan Evans, so a Sunday castle visit skips it.
  • Bring food: lunch isn't included, and Windsor has plenty of cafés and pubs.
  • Wheelchair users need to contact Evan Evans at least seven days before so they can arrange a suitable vehicle.
  • Charge your phone on the coach's USB sockets on the way out. You'll want it full inside the circle.
