The Roman Baths this winter

The Roman Baths change price with the calendar, and the cheapest weeks of the year overlap with Bath's Christmas Market. Here is what to pay, when it closes, and how long a tour gives you.

Bath is the last big stop on most Stonehenge days from London, and the Roman Baths are what most people want to see there. Prices move several times between now and New Year.

Everything below comes from the Roman Baths and Bath Christmas Market websites as of October 2026.

The quick answer

Booked in advance, an adult pays £23.50 on weekdays and £26.50 at weekends from 1 November to 18 December 2026, the cheapest stretch of the autumn and winter calendar. Prices rise for 19 to 24 December and reach £33 every day from 27 to 31 December. Tickets on the day cost £2 more. The Roman Baths close on 25 and 26 December. Bath Christmas Market runs from 26 November to 13 December 2026.

How much are Roman Baths tickets this autumn and winter?

From £23.50 for an adult on a November weekday to £33 between Christmas and New Year, booked in advance.

The Roman Baths publish prices by period. The advance prices below are £2 less than tickets bought on the day, and bank holiday pricing may vary (September and October, November to 18 December, 19 to 24 December, 27 to 31 December).

Seniors (65+) and students pay £1 less than adults. 2027 prices have not been published yet: check the Roman Baths ticket page.

When is the cheapest time to visit the Roman Baths?

A weekday between 1 November and 18 December 2026: £23.50 for an adult, booked ahead, the lowest of the published autumn and winter prices.

That is £9.50 less than the same ticket between Christmas and New Year. A family of two adults and two to four children pays £59 on a November weekday and £88 on 28 December (Roman Baths).

The cheap stretch covers the whole of the Christmas Market. Go on a Tuesday or Wednesday and you get the lowest price and the quietest market hours.

When are the Roman Baths closed at Christmas 2026?

On 25 and 26 December. On 24 December last entry is at 4.15pm, and on 1 January the doors open at 10am.

The Roman Baths are open every day except Christmas Day and Boxing Day (Roman Baths). Until 31 October they open 9am to 6pm with last admission at 5pm; winter hours from 1 November have not been published yet on the same page.

Plan a Christmas Eve visit for the morning. A tour that reaches Bath in the late afternoon may arrive after last entry.

When is Bath Christmas Market 2026?

Thursday 26 November to Sunday 13 December 2026, every day from 10am.

The Bath Christmas Market opens 10am to 7pm Monday to Wednesday, 10am to 8pm Thursday to Saturday and 10am to 6pm on Sunday. Visit Bath counts about 245 traders this year, 61 of them new, spread over Abbeygate Street, Bath Street, Milsom Street and New Bond Street (Visit Bath).

It draws around 440,000 visitors a year. Visit Bath's advice is to come on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning, 10am to 12pm, when it is quietest. Visit Bath calls evenings and weekends the liveliest.

Want more than an hour in Bath for the market? This day gives you a long afternoon in the city.

How do you book, and does a guided tour cost extra?

Book a timed ticket on romanbaths.co.uk. A one-hour guided tour costs £8 on top.

The Roman Baths warn about a fake website selling "half price" tickets: real tickets are only sold on romanbaths.co.uk. Shared guided tours for up to 16 people leave from the Great Bath every hour from 10am to 3pm, cost £8 per person and are free for under-6s. Book an admission time at least an hour before the tour starts. A private tour for up to 10 costs £80, at 11am or 3pm (Roman Baths tickets).

On a coach day you will not know your exact arrival time, so a guided tour slot is a gamble. Skip it unless you have a full day in Bath.

What do day tours from London give you at the Roman Baths?

Anything from no entry to two hours inside. Check the inclusions, not the photos.

The small-group day from Marble Arch (from $251) includes Roman Baths entry and lists two hours there, with Stonehenge from the visitor path. The inner circle day (from $222) includes entry only with the upgrade option, and gives you about an hour in Bath. The Stonehenge and Bath day (from $115) sells entry as an option. The Windsor, Lacock and Bath day excludes it.

From 27 to 31 December, a £33 ticket bought separately makes an included entry look generous. In November, buying your own at £23.50 is cheap, as long as your slot matches the coach. More in Roman Baths on a day trip.
