Anderson Tours · Earl's Court, London
Anderson Tours spends the afternoon at Avebury and West Kennet Long Barrow, then takes you inside the stone circle at Stonehenge after the site closes. It's the cheapest way into the circle on this site and a day for prehistory fans, as long as your dates are fixed: the ticket is non-refundable.

This is the prehistory day. You meet at Earl's Court bus stop C on Warwick Road at 10 AM (September and March to May) or noon (June to August), and head west to Avebury, where the henge and stone circles are the largest in Britain and enclose part of the village (English Heritage). The itinerary gives you about 2 hours there, then an hour at West Kennet Long Barrow, a chambered tomb built around 3650 BC.
Stonehenge comes last, in the evening, after it has closed to day visitors. You get an hour inside the circle with your entry included, and the group is capped at 30 on the coach, smaller than the 51 on the other inner circle tours. Guests talk about the light and about photos without strangers in them. At $209 it undercuts the Lacock and Bath day by $13.
The catch is in the small print. The ticket is non-refundable and can't be changed for any reason, and minimum numbers apply, so the operator can cancel and offer an alternative or a refund. The walk to the long barrow is half a mile uphill across farmland, says English Heritage, and the coach is not wheelchair accessible. No inner circle visits run in October or November.

★★★★★It was so incredible to be able to walk among the stones in a small group in the evening. The light was beautiful. It was wonderful to get pictures without other people in them. We saw where the regular tours are allowed to walk. It was not very close to the stones, let alone in amongst them.
★★★★★I had been to Stonehenge back in 1987, but there was already a fence around it and I could not get near it. This trip brought us right into the inner circle and it was magical. The visit to Long Barrow and Avesbury was also wonderful.
★★★★★It was a special treat to be able to go into the inner circle of the stones! I especially enjoyed the evening aspect of the tour. Avebury and Marlborough were a nice caveat to the whole day.
★★★★★Went in thinking “well I spent a bunch of money to see a big circle of rocks”. Came out thinking how amazing Stonehenge really is.
