Premium Tours · South Kensington, London
A coach day from South Kensington that puts you inside the roped-off stone circle for an hour, early in the morning or in the evening, then walks you round Lacock and drops you in Bath. Pick it if you want to stand among the sarsens and still see Lacock and Bath.

On a normal Stonehenge ticket you walk a path around the monument, about 5 metres from the stones at its closest (English Heritage). This tour books the exception: an English Heritage Stone Circle Experience, one hour inside the circle in the early morning or the evening, when the site is closed to day visitors. English Heritage hosts guide the two groups at the stones, and you stand right next to the sarsens and the lintels.
Around that hour sits a classic day out. The coach leaves the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in South Kensington at 5:30 AM (sunrise tour, stones first) or 10 AM (sunset tour, stones last). In between you get a one-hour guided walk in Lacock, the National Trust village used in Harry Potter and the BBC's Pride and Prejudice, about 45 minutes at the 14th-century George Inn (food at your own expense), and a panoramic drive plus free time in Bath. Roman Baths entry only comes with the upgrade option.
Now the honest part. The listing calls this a "private viewing", and the word confuses people. The access is private: the circle is closed to everyone else. The tour is not: you share a coach of up to 51 travellers, and English Heritage runs sessions of up to 52 people, split into two groups of 26 at the stones (Stone Circle Experience page). One guest wrote "NOT PRIVATE" in capitals. There are no inner circle visits in October and November, so the next dates start in December.
Casino entrance, 4-18 Harrington Gardens, South Kensington SW7 4LH. Be early: one guest wrote that the coach leaves late arrivals behind.
Shuttle from the visitor centre, then an hour in the circle with English Heritage guides. On the sunrise tour this comes first; on the sunset tour it ends the day.
A walk through the lanes and past film locations. Walking the village is free.
Lacock's 14th-century pub. The listing mentions an optional breakfast or dinner, at your own expense.
A panoramic drive past the Royal Crescent and Bath Abbey, then the Roman Baths (with the upgrade) or time on your own.
The tour ends at Gloucester Road Station, on the District, Circle and Piccadilly lines.
★★★★★100% worth spending the extra money on the inner circle tour. We had 2 guide hosts that were great at sharing information and chatting with us. I was hesitant about have a whole hour at the stones, but it flew by…wish I had more time.
★★★★★The early morning trip to the inner circle of Stonehenge was fantastic. [...] Then the tours of Lacock and Bath were the icing on the cake. [...] We had plenty of time everywhere, except for Bath where you really need a whole weekend. It was definitely worth getting up for the 5:30 a.m. start.
★★★★★I have been to Stonehenge twice now and getting to into the inner circle this time was worth it. It really changes the experience. You can see the details of the stones better (graffiti, engineering, carving).
★★★★★Lacock was really cool, definitely worth the stop. I didn't do the Bath museum, instead I spent time tooling around the city of Bath which was off great. Had time to do some shopping, see the Royal crescent, see the bridge, walk through the park and even grab a pint!
